Director of En inee�in �I� ru y, , g ast ct SUBJECT: Amendment to Agreement for Water Distribution Main from the South Water Treatment Plant to Elevated Tanks, Detailed Design Phase, City Project 03-23 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing Amendments to agreements with Bainbridge, Gee, Milanski &Associates, Inc., (BGM)to provide engineering services for two distinct phases of the Water Distribution Main from the South Water Treatment Plant (SWTP)to the Elevated Tanks Project. The Amendment to the first Agreement for the route study and project plan authorizes an increase in the fee of$5,000 thereby increasing the not-to-exceed fee of$30,000 to $35,000. Amendment to the Second Agreement for the preparation of construction plans and specifications authorizes an increase in fee of$70,000 thereby increasing the not-to-exceed fee of$285,000 to $355,000. BACKGROUND: Prior Council Action August 5, 2002—Council received transmittal of Strand Water System Master Plan in Study Session on August 5, 2002. This Master Plan included recommendations to improve water mains between SWTP and water towers. December 15, 2003—Council approved Resolution R2003-190 approving an Agreement with BGM for Engineering Services for Water Distnbution Main from SWTP to Elevated Tanks at a cost of$30,000. October 18, 2004—Council approved Resolution R2004-159 accepting the bid and approving a contract with BGM for Construction Design Services for Water Distribution Main from SWTP to Elevated Tanks, City Project 03-23 at a cost of$285,000.
