' 1 '
COUNCIL COMMUNICATION FORM
PURCHASING & INTERNAL SERVICES MEMORANDUM
#08-79
November 10, 2008
TO: Honorable Mayor Carrigan and City Council
FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager
Ron Neufeld, Financial Management Director
Deborah M. Perry, Purchasing Supervisor
SUBJECT: Bids for cabinets and countertops
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Michael Goss
Custom Cabinets to furnish and install kitchen cabinets and countertops for Fire Station #3
located at 1308 W. Eldorado.
BACKGROUND: Fire Station #3 is in need of new cabinets and paint. The existing cabinets
are missing drawers, drawer fronts, and the haxdware is worn out due to the age (over 20 years)
and usage. The fire crews are forced to store their cooking utensils on top of the cabinets in open
, containers. Since the paint is also peeling in the kitchen area, it can be unsafe if it drops down
onto the utensils.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Fire Department requested the new cabinets and created
the specifications along with the architect.
STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Sekosky, Fire Chief, 424-2811. Jeff Abbott, Deputy Fire Chief,
' 424-2811. Matt Sekosky will be at the City Council meeting to answer any questions the council
may have about this purchase.
BUDGET: $11,010.00 from Foreign Fire Tax Fund.
