Alexander, Director of Water Management �/� <br /> SUBJECT: Macon County Soil & Water Conservation District Request <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Council adopt the attached Resolution authorizing a temporary $752.20 reduction in the <br /> monthly allocation paid to the Macon County Soil & Water Conservation District <br /> (District) for Lake Decatur watershed conservation services. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The annual agreement between the City and the District specifies that the District hire <br /> two staff on a full time basis (Watershed Specialist and Watershed Conservationist), <br /> one staff person on a one-third basis (Administrative Assistant) and one staff person on <br /> a one-quarter basis (Resource Conservationist) for Lake Decatur watershed <br /> conservation services. The current Resource Conservationist recently resigned to <br /> accept a position in another county, and the District believes that it may take several <br /> months to fill the position with a qualified candidate. Therefore, the District has <br /> requested that the cost of the one-quarter Resource Conservationist position be <br /> withheld from the City's monthly allocation to the District until a new person is hired. <br /> City staff appreciate the District making this request to the City and recommend its <br /> approval. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> None foreseen. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: <br /> Keith Alexander, Director of Water Management, phone 424-2863 <br /> email kalexander@decaturil.gov <br /> Mr. Smith will be available at the October 20 Council meeting to answer any questions <br /> that Council may have. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Until a new Resource Conservationist is hired, the City will withhold $752.20 from the <br /> monthly allocation to the District. <br /> Attachment !� <br /> cc: Dennis Bork, MCSWCD Board Chairman <br />
