Smith, Interim City Manager <br /> SUBJECT: Contract for Consulting Services <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve the <br /> attached resolution to seek the termination of the services of Illinois Strategies, LLC, <br /> effective at the end of October 2008, and to contract for like services with Curry and <br /> Associates, LLC, from November 1, 2008 through the end of June 2009. <br /> BACKGROUND: Recently, staff was contacted by Julie Curry, formerly an associate <br /> with Illinois Strategies, and told that she had terminated her relationship with that firm. <br /> She has established her own consulting service, Curry and Associates, LLC, and would <br /> like to continue to represent the interests of the City with the Illinois General Assembly <br /> and the Executive Branch of state government, under terms similar to the City's current <br /> contract with Illinois Strategies. Staff therefore recommends that the City seek the <br /> termination of its contract with Illinois Strategies, and enter a like agreement with Curry <br /> and Associates. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this arrangement. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: The attached proposed contract from Curry and Associates has <br /> been reviewed by the City's Legal Department. If you have questions about it, please <br /> contact Corporation Counsel, Wendy Morthland, at 424-2807. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: This contract would run for the same period as the <br /> remainder of the Illinois Strategies contract, and would be for the same monthly fee <br /> ($2,500).
