Chastain &Associates, LLP for 2008 Annual <br /> Dam Inspections <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staffthat the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing <br /> an agreement with Homer L. Chastain&Associates, LLP (HLC), to conduct the 2008 <br /> Annual Dam Inspections for Lake Decatur Dam and the Dredging Sediment Storage Facility <br /> for a fee not to exceed $17,850. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Office of Water Resources, requires an annual <br /> inspection of all dams and preparation of an inspection report. The inspection is to be <br /> performed by a qualified licensed engineer. This requirement applies to the Lake Decatur <br /> Dam and the Dredging Sediment Storage Facility in Oakley Township. HLC has submitted a <br /> proposal to conduct an inspection of the facilities and prepare the inspection reports for a fee <br /> not to exceed $17,850. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Department of Water Management. <br /> Illinois Department ofNatural Resources <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard G. Marley, Director of Engineering & <br /> Infrastructure, at 424-2747 <br /> Richard N. Berard, Civil Engineer II, 424-2747 <br /> Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of <br /> the Council on this item, <br />
