<br /> Streetscape — The st�re has a new biack arched�awning.
<br /> History and condition of buiiding —The building was built around 1910 after the buildings on the south end of
<br /> Merchant Street were destroyed by fire. The building is the second fa�ade of a group five buildings that appear to
<br /> have been built together. The five buiidings have three different designs. The sister building to the north is
<br /> currently being renovated under the city of Decatur farade grant program. That building is going to get new false
<br /> glass panels above the door and storefront windows.
<br /> The street door to the upper floors will be replaced with a style and rail door that is compatible with the original
<br /> construction. This door serves both buildings.
<br /> The street level has received a major redesign sometime in the last 30 years. This renovated storefront is in good
<br /> condition. The design challenge is to decide to keep it and try to bring it back closer to historic character or remove
<br /> it to rebuild a more historic fa�ade. This proposal is based upon the former approach. The result provides an
<br /> acceptabie in character image.
