Store front Investigation: <br /> One of the cedar board panels was removed to identify the under lying construction. Behind the cedar we found 1x4 <br /> furring strips attached to a rough coat of plaster on metal lath that is attached to wood framing. The plaster was heavily <br /> stained with soot. This means that the plaster has been there for a long time. It is impossible to determine when the <br /> plaster was instailed but it is out of character with the other facades in this group. There is no existing construction with <br /> any historic character remaining on this store front. <br /> The store front has built out 6"to cover the 4" brick piers on both sides of the store front. The whole construction of the <br /> store front is outside the face of the building. ' <br /> It is impossible to determine what the original store front was like. The only option to bring back some of the historic <br /> character is to rebuild the entire store front. Full glass panels will be more in character. New small profile aluminum <br /> frames and glass panels will provide full glass storefront the was typical 100 years ago. A neutral beige will blend with <br /> painted materials <br /> Panels below the windows will be style and rail wood panels. The panels will be painted to add to the character of the <br /> building. <br /> Storefront door—The wood entrance door looks like it could be original. The door will be restored and repainted, and <br /> the hardware will be upgraded as needed.
