. „
Additional drainage issues within the City and changes in storm water regulations have occurred ,
since 2002, causing the Draft Phase I Storm Water Master Plan to be outdated. The City wishes to I
move forward with the storm water planning process following the same format as approved in ,
1998. The first step to accomplish this will be to have CDI update and finish the Phase I Storm
Water Master Plan. The original author of the 2002 pre-final draft report continues to work for
CDI, remains familiar with his previous work and will supervise the completion of the Master Plan.
Future work will include the Phase II portion of the Master Plan. It will be broken down into
several individual watershed-based studies that will recommend locations and methods of storm
water improvements. The studies will also estimate the construction costs associated with each
improvement. Council approval of future phase work will be sought at a later date.
When all portions of the Storm Water Master Plan are complete, the City will have a living
document with which to better understand the City's drainage characteristics and needs. It will also
be a tool to assist the City in logically planning for future development and storm water
improvements.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this proposed
agreement.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None
STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Director of Engineering &
Infrastructure(424-2747)
Matt Newell, City Engineer(424-2747)
Mary Cave, Civil Engineer II (424-2747)
Richard Marley will be at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council on this
item.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS:
Funding for this work is currently allocated in the City's Capital Improvements Fund. The
engineering services agreement is for a fee not to exceed $46,540. Funding for future phases of the
Master Plan is allocated in the 5 year Capital Improvement Plan. ,
This project will begin immediately upon approval by City Council and is expected to be completed
in January 2009.
