Smith, Interim City Manager Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Admini rat 9�-� � ya4 � / SUBJECT: Purchase Order for One Four-Door Passenger Sedan SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council adopt a Resolution awarding a RECOMMENDATION: purchase order for one four-door passenger sedan to the lowest bidder, Jackson Ford, Inc. BACKGROUND: The Transit System wishes to purchase a four-door passenger sedan to replace a 1995 Ford Escort. On June 19, 2008, staff placed an advertisement in the Herald & Review newspaper requesting sealed bids for furnishing the City with one four-door passenger sedan. On the same day, the complete bidding package was mailed to five Decatur new car dealers and notices were mailed to 8 new car dealers in the surrounding area. Four firms submitted bids by the published bidding deadline on July 23ra The Mass Transit Administrator determined that all bids were acceptable with respect to the vehicle specifications, and that all other requirements of the bidding process were satisfactorily met. As shown on the attached tabulation of bids the lowest bidder was Jackson Ford, Inc., with a bid of$20,151.40. POTENTIAL Bidders have five days from the announcement of the lowest bidder OBJECTION: to file a protest. No objection to awarding the purchase order to the lowest bidder is expected. City funds have been budgeted for the remaining $4,206.40.
