Co hr En i � <br /> g p c an g neermg for Design of the Plaza at 300 <br /> North Water Street, City Project 07-03 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that City Council adopt the attached Resolution authorizing an agreement � <br /> with Phillip W. Cochran Engineering, (PWC) to provide engineering services for the design of <br /> the Plaza at 300 North Water Street. The proposed agreement is for a fee not to exceed $22,000. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> On October 16, 2006, the City Council authorized a redevelopment agreement with Reynolds <br /> Development, LLC, to develop the east side of the 300 block of North Water Street. As part of <br /> the agreement the City agreed to reconstruct this portion of North Water Street to allow two-way <br /> traffic, demolish selected buildings on the west side of Water Street and construct a landscaped <br /> plaza on the west side of Water Street opposite the main doors to the new Reynolds Building. <br /> On March 5, 2007, the City Council authorized an agreement with PWC to provide engineering �, <br /> services for the design of the streetscape improvements for 300 North Water Street. On May 19, <br /> 2008, the City Council authorized a contract with Otto Baum Inc. to construct the streetscape , <br /> improvements on this portion of Water Street. � <br /> PWC's original contract included a concept design of the Plaza area, however; the final design I�I, <br /> was best completed after the demolition of the west side buildings. In addition, the main focus ' <br /> of the plaza design was not yet determined. It is proposed that the plaza design center on the <br /> new Lincoln sculpture by Preston Jackson and will include lighting and other electrical ' <br /> improvements which will require a significant design effort. <br /> It is proposed that the design be completed by the end of August and a contract award be <br /> submitted to Council for approval at the first Council meeting in September. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br />
