This task is a basic component of a comprehensive asset
management program, and is vital to maintain the long term reliability of our facilities in a
financiall res onsible manner.
Y P
Over the years the City has worked with two world renowned engineering and utility services
firms on major water system projects — Black & Veatch Corporation and MWH Americas, Inc.
Since both firms have an intimate knowledge of the City's water system, they were asked to
submit proposals for this work. After thorough reviews, interviews and negotiations by City
staff, it was determined that Black &Veatch can provide the necessary services at a significantly
lower cost than MWH. Therefore, Black&Veatch is recommended.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION:
None foreseen.
STAFF REFERENCE:
Keith Alexander, Director of Water Management, phone 424-2863, email
kalexander@decaturil.gov
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS:
The project is in this fiscal year's Water Non Lake Capital budget and will take approximately 4
months to complete.
cc: John Schilling, Black &Veatch
Rob Shirley, Water Production Manager
Randy Miller, Water Services Manager
