The ordinances would provide criteria for plan development, site design <br /> requirements, and practice maintenance. Encourage the continued use of the local SWCD and NRCS <br /> � trained personnel in the development of erosion control plans. <br /> • Use Best Management Practices(BMPs)on construction sites and developing areas as identified in <br /> the Illinois Urban Manual. <br /> • Treat erosion occurring on land with slopes greater than 5% and adjacent to the creek or a tributary. <br /> These areas have a higher potential for erosion than less sloping ground, as well as the possibility to <br /> erode into the creek. <br /> • Demonstrate conservation practices on highly visible sites. These areas become examples of <br /> conservation on the land and point out how effective local efforts have been. Local, state or federal <br /> cost share dollars may be available for the installation of these practices. <br /> • Monitor areas where significant land use changes are anticipated for increased erosion and sediment <br /> rates. <br /> � Utilize filter and buffer strips on areas next to bodies of water and drainage ways that do not currently <br /> have adequate buffers.
