Perry, Purchasing Supervisor�� <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for Skid Steer Loader <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Bobcat of <br /> Springfield to furnish one (1) 2008 5300 skid steering loader plus a 4 year extended warranty. <br /> BACKGROUND: This equipment will be used by the Street Department. It will replace a <br /> 1997 Gehl skid steer loader currently in service, which will be traded in. The Gehl loader is <br /> manufactured in North Dakota. The vendor submitted an alternate bid for an additional 4 year <br /> warranty at a cost of$1,750. Based on repair costs for the loader being replaced, the additional 4 <br /> year warranty appears to be a good value and should be purchased. <br /> The highest bid is from Altorfer for a Caterpillar skid steer loader and costs $67,095. This loader <br /> is manufactured in North Carolina. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Street Division requested the equipment. Fleet <br /> Maintenance wrote the bid specifications. Both recommend approval of bid. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Director of Engineering & Infrastructure, 424-2747.
