, , . <br /> � <br /> Mass Transit Memorandum <br /> No. 032608-1 <br /> March 26, 2008 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Steve Ga an, City Manager <br /> Paul Mc cy, Mass Transit Administrato���� � <br /> SUBJECT: FTA Operating and Capital Assistance Grant for FFY-2008 <br /> SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council approve a Resolution to authorize <br /> RECOMMENDATION: the filing of an application for federal operating and capital <br /> assistance for FFY-2008 in the total amount of$1,454,430. <br /> BACKGROUND: Every year the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) apportions <br /> grant funds for each metropolitan transit system. For FFY-2008 <br /> the amount available to Decatur is $1,454,430. Staff recommends <br /> that a grant application be submitted to FTA requesting that the <br /> available funding be awarded for the following: <br /> • $1,152,052 to help offset the operating deficit of the Transit <br /> System; and <br /> • $302,378 for the purchase of one heavy duty 30' bus. <br /> POTENTIAL A public hearing was held to discuss this grant application. No <br /> OBJECTION: negative comments were received. 'There are no known or <br /> expected objections to this grant application. <br /> INPUT FROM Richard Foiles, General Manager, DPTS <br /> OTHER SOURCES: <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator <br /> BUDGET/TIME The requested FTA operating assistance grant funds require a <br /> IMPLICATIONS: 50/50 match. The local match would be made up of farebox <br /> revenues and state operating funds already awarded to Decatur. I <br /> State Toll Revenue Credits would be used in lieu of the local '� <br /> match for the requested capital funds. � <br />
