i
They also have access to a computer lab, with internet and games, as well as a gymnasium with ;
pool table, foosball, air hockey, ping pong and basketball rims for their leisure time enjoyment,
and so much more.
The greatest contribution by far, is [thatJ the children are safe from gang/criminal activity and i
I violence when we are in the different neighborhoods doing the festivals and wlule they are at I ,
' our facility. When they are with us they can smile, laugh and be cluldren. Parents can shop at
our food bank once weekly. We believe the children are able to learn better when they are
properly nourished.
6. What do the children's families value most about our programs? I
The value most eressed by the families of the children is the knowledge that their children aze i
safe and that they trust this ministry to provide adequate protection while in our care. Many of
these children are "latchlcey kids", and the parent/s appreciate that someone is watching over
them, at least for a little while. They also enjoy the well-rounded after school program and the I
hot meal we give their children before we take them home. They thank us over and over again
for coming to their neighborhood with the festivals throughout the summer months. ;
7. How does our program beneit our community as a whole?
i Our program benefits our community as a whole by reaching"at risk"children through building
 relationships with volunteer mentors,educators,business owners, executives and others who
would not normally be accessible to these particular populations, for whatever reasons. ;
I Building healthy relationships often brings about positive changes in the choices and decision '
making processes that may not have been an option in the past for some of these children. We i
believe our program helps prevent cri.me by changing the course of many"at risk"children's
lives. Finally,the program pravides the children with a much needed hot and nutritious meal, at
;, least one day a week,which we are certain adds much needed nutritional and nurturing value.
