1 + <br /> 1 GENERAL <br /> 1.1 Plans and Specifications <br /> 1.1.1 All work shall be performed in accordance with this Specification and any <br /> accompanying plan drawings and special instructions. <br /> 1.1.2 All work shall be performed in accordance with the guidelines and specifications <br /> of the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) and the American .Railway <br /> Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association (AREMA), in addition to the <br /> requirements contained herein. <br /> 1.2 Permits and Agreements <br /> 1.2.1 The Contractor employed by City of Decatur shall be responsible for obtaining <br /> all permits and agreements necessary to perform the work specified herein. The <br /> Contractor shall determine what is required of him by such permits and <br /> agreements. <br /> 1.3 Cleaning and Painting System Option <br /> 13.1 The City of Decatur may elect to paint the steel surfaces with only minimal <br /> surface preparation, as an alternative to commercial blast cleaning. With this <br /> option, the City, or City's contractor, shall furnish the following three-coat ICI <br /> Devoe�High Performance Coatings system: <br /> a. Pre-PrimeTM 167 Penetrating Sealer prime coast applied at 1.5 mils DFT and <br /> having amber clear color with medium sheen finish. <br /> b. Bar-RustTM 235 Multi-Purpose Epoxy intermediate coat applied at 4.0-8.0 <br /> mils DFT and having off white color with semi-gloss finish. <br /> c. Devthane� 379UVA Aliphatic Urethane Gloss Enamel top coat applied at <br /> 2.0-3.0 mils DFT and having gray color with gloss finish. <br /> 1.3.2 So as to help achieve a more enduring appearance enhancement, the City of <br /> Decatur may elect to blast clean the steel surfaces prior to painting. With this <br /> option, the City or City's contractor shall furnish the following three-coat ICI <br /> Devoe system: <br /> a. Catha-Coat� 303H Zinc Rich Epoxy Primer prime coat applied at 2.0 to 4.0 <br /> mils DFT and having green color with flat finish. , <br /> b. Devran�201 Universal Epoxy Primer intermediate coat applied at 2.0 to 3.0 ' <br /> mils DFT and having light gray color with flat finish. ', <br /> c. DevflexTM 659 Gloss DTM Waterborne Acrylic Enamel top coat applied at ', <br /> 2.0 to 4.0 mils DFT and having gray color with gloss finish. �', <br /> 1.3.3 With either paint option, the finish coat is to be gray in color, closely matching Ili <br /> Identification No. 26306 per Federal Standard 595B. <br /> 2 I <br />
