I <br /> + . • ' � <br /> DEPARTMENT OF WATER MANAGEMENT <br /> Memorandum No. 2007-28 <br /> October 10, 2007 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council _ <br /> FROM: Steve Ga , City Manager <br /> John A. t , Assistant City Manager for Public Servic <br /> Keith D. le ander, Director of Water Management� <br /> SUBJECT: Authorization for Lake Tokorozawa Emergency Water Acquisition <br /> Equipment and Services <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to obtain the necessary <br /> services for Lake Tokorozawa Emergency Water Acquisition Equipment and Services for an <br /> amount not to exceed $540,000. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Due to drought, the level of Lake Decatur continues to fall 1/3 inch per day. Mandatory water <br /> restrictions will go into effect October 15. At this time, the best source of additional water for <br /> the South Water Treatment Plant is Lake Tokorozawa, which is owned by the Rhodes family. <br /> This authorization is to obtain temporary pumping and pipe equipment and services to deliver <br /> water from Lake Tokorozawa to the South Water Treatment Plant. The authorization is critically <br /> needed now as it will take at least 4 weeks to fully implement the temporary pumping and pipe <br /> system. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> None foreseen. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: <br /> Several pumping and piping vendors and contractors. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: <br /> Keith D.
