Pe y, Purchasing Supervisor
SUBJECT: Intermediate Sport Utility Vehicles for Fire
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Miles
Chevrolet to furnish four (4) 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer intermediate sport utility vehicles.
BACKGROUND: These vehicles will be used by the Fire Department and will replace two
1997 Jeep Cherokees and two 2001 Chevy 5-10 Blazers currently in service. The new Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles are estimated to obtain 14 miles per gallon for
in-town driving. Based on Fleet Maintenance records, the four existing vehicles collectively
averaged 14.6 miles per gallon. Actual mileage for the new vehicles may vary depending upon
use.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Fire Department requested the vehicles. Fleet
Maintenance wrote the bid specifications. Both recommend approval of bid.
STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Director of Engineering and Infrastructure — 424-
2747.
