Perry, Purchasing Supervisor�Q <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for small sport utility vehicle <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Jackson Ford <br /> to furnish one (1) 2008 Ford Escape small sport utility vehicle. <br /> BACKGROUND: This vehicle will be used by Water Management. It will replace a 1995 <br /> Ford Taurus currently in use. The Water Division requests a small four door SUV as a more <br /> practical vehicle for site visits to the Dewitt County well-field, Cisco well site, dredge sediment <br /> storage site, lime sludge lagoons, and potential new water storage and sediment storage sites. <br /> The vehicle does not have four-wheel drive however the higher under vehicle clearance makes it <br /> more useful for off-pavement driving. The small SUV mileage rating is 18 miles per gallon in <br /> town and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. This mileage rating is similar to a regular sedan <br /> type automobile. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Water Production requested the vehicle. Fleet <br /> Maintenance wrote the bid specifications. Both recommend approval of bid. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Maxley, Director of Engineering and Infrastructure—424-2747 <br /> and Dick Borders, MSC Manager — 875-4820. Richard will be at the meeting to answer any <br /> questions the City Council may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $18,400 from the Equipment Replacement Fund. <br />
