Ale nder, Director of Water Management (//� <br /> I`'•�C <br /> SUBJECT: High Servi e Pump Station and Distribution Storage Study <br /> Engineering Services Agreement <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Council adopt the attached Resolution approving an Engineering Services Agreement '� <br /> with Strand Associates for a High Service Pump Station and Distribution Storage Study <br /> at a cost not to exceed,$55,000. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The study consists of two parts: <br /> 1. A review of the South Water Treatment Plant's (SWTP) water pumping <br /> configuration that is necessary for maintaining desired distribution system <br /> pressure and efficient electric power consumption prior to the construction of the <br /> new water main from the SWTP to the two existing water tanks on Division St. <br /> and Garfield Ave. Construction of the new main is anticipated to begin next year. <br /> 2. A review of the SWTP's and water distribution storage requirements that is <br /> necessary to ensure that our water system has enough drinking water storage to <br /> adequately meet the needs of our growing system, fire suppression requirements <br /> and future distribution hydraulic modifications. <br /> Strand Associates is recommended for this project as they have successfully worked <br /> with the City for the past several years on similar projects. They also maintain a rather <br /> complex computer software program providing detailed hydraulic analysis of the City's <br /> water infrastructure that is an important component of these types of studies. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECT�ON: <br /> None foreseen. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: <br /> Strand Associates. <br />
