, <br /> . „ <br /> AGREEMENT ', <br /> This Agreement is made and entered into by and between the City of Decatur, Illinois, a <br /> municipal corporation hereinafter referred to as the "City", and AOK Travel Network, Inc., an � <br /> Illinois corporation, authorized to do and doing business in the City of Decatur as AOK TNI <br /> Taxi, hereinafter referred to as the "Cab Company". <br /> WHEREAS, as a recipient of U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration ,, <br /> (FTA) funding assistance, and as required by FTA regulations, the City provides complementary <br /> paratransit service for people with disabilities who are unable to use the City's fixed-route bus <br /> system, through vehicles owned and operated by the City, and through user-side subsidies to <br /> disabled passengers who choose to use the taxicab services of licensed,private vendors. The <br /> City's complementary paratransit service is hereinafter referred to as "Operation Uplift"; and <br /> WHEREAS the Cab Company is duly licensed by the City as an operator of taxicabs; and <br /> WHEREAS the Cab Company is willing and able to accept the responsibilities, obligations and <br /> terms of this Agreement; and <br /> WHEREAS the Cab Company understands and acknowledges that this Agreement does not.grant <br /> exclusive rights to the Cab Company, and that the City reserves the right to enter into a similar <br /> agreement with one or more private vendors. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the promises, covenants, agreements and <br /> conditions hereinafter set forth to be performed,kept and met by the respective parties hereto, <br /> this Agreement is made by and between the City of Decatur, Illinois„ and AOK Travel Network, <br /> Inc., as follows: <br /> PURPOSE AND SCOPE , <br /> The purpose of this Agreement is to facilitate the City's complementary paratransit service for <br /> people with disabilities who are unable to use the City's fixed-route bus system, and who choose <br /> to use the taxicab services of licensed,private vendors, by establishing a streamlined method of <br /> fare subsidy reimbursements. This Agreement is not intended to establish the framework for the ' <br /> City's purchase of transportation services from the Cab Company; this Agreement is intended to <br /> establish the most cost effective method of paying user-side fare subsidies to people with <br /> disabilities who choose to use the paratransit services of licensed, private vendors. Through this <br /> Agreement the City will pay fare subsidies directly to the Cab Company for all eligible rides <br /> provided by the Cab Company, in lieu of fare subsidy reimbursements to each individual <br /> Operation Uplift rider, for each eligible ride. <br /> - 1 - � <br />
