Director of En ineerin n�'�i a tr tur Y> > g g Richard N. erard, Civil Engineer II %� SUBJECT: Inspection of Water Facilities by Divers SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing an agreement with Tank Industry Consultants Inc., (TIC), to conduct Inspection of Water Facilities by Divers for a fee not to exceed $13,685.00. BACKGROUND: City staff prepared a request for proposal to undertake an inspection of three water facilities, namely, the 7.5 million gallon treated water reservoir at the South Water Treatment Plant, the 5.0 million gallon reservoir at the William Street Pumping Station, and the clear wells under the filters at the water treatment plant. To minimize the time duration these facilities are to be taken out of service, the inspections by dive method is necessary. The purpose of the inspections is to evaluate the integrity of the structural and mechanical components and to quantify the amount of any deposits on the floor of the facilities. In the event that the removal of the deposits is required, a change order or a separate contract will be considered. Proposals were received from three diving inspection companies as follows: Dixon Engineering, Inc. $16,235.00 Pro-Dive Inc. $14,661.51 Tank Industry Consultants Inc. $13,685.00 The City has previously employed TIC for inspection services and considers this company to be well qualified to undertake these inspections. Staff recommends awarding the contract to Tank Industry Consultants. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections.
