. � <br /> : ' i <br /> Engineering & Infrastructure Memorandum <br /> NO. 2007-40 <br /> July 11, 2007 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council <br /> FROM: Steve Gar City Manager <br /> Billy Tyus, stant City Manager for Public Information �,�A <br /> Richard G. rley, P.E., Director of Engineering & Infrastruct�� �'�'1 <br /> SUBJECT: Payment for Ice Storm Services to Contractor's Recycled Material <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution authorizing <br /> payment of$49,500 to Contractor's Recycled Material for services provided as part of the ice <br /> storm clean-up. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) assisted the City's 2006 Ice Storm clean-up <br /> effort by providing an operator and excavator equipped with a grapple to load limbs into the <br /> Hickory Point burn pile. Late in February, IDOT ended their assistance to the City and <br /> removed the grapple equipment. In arder to keep disposing of limbs by burning, it was <br /> necessary to find another excavator equipped with a grapple. Entler Excavating Company, <br /> Inc., a subsidiary of Contractor's Recycled Material, had an excavator that was equipped with a <br /> grapple. Hickory Point Township authorized Entler Excavating to provide an excavator and <br /> grapple to load limbs into the burn pile. Between March 2 and May 5, 2007, Entler <br /> Excavating's equipment and operator worked 330 hours loading limbs into the burn pile at a <br /> cost of$49,500. This cost is eligible for FEMA reimbursement. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this <br /> resolution. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Entler Excavating Company, a subsidiary <br /> of Contractors Recycled Material <br /> Hickory Point Township <br />
