.
: ' i
Engineering & Infrastructure Memorandum
NO. 2007-40
July 11, 2007
TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council
FROM: Steve Gar City Manager
Billy Tyus, stant City Manager for Public Information ,A
Richard G. rley, P.E., Director of Engineering & Infrastruct ''1
SUBJECT: Payment for Ice Storm Services to Contractor's Recycled Material
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended by staff that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution authorizing
payment of$49,500 to Contractor's Recycled Material for services provided as part of the ice
storm clean-up.
BACKGROUND:
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) assisted the City's 2006 Ice Storm clean-up
effort by providing an operator and excavator equipped with a grapple to load limbs into the
Hickory Point burn pile. Late in February, IDOT ended their assistance to the City and
removed the grapple equipment. In arder to keep disposing of limbs by burning, it was
necessary to find another excavator equipped with a grapple. Entler Excavating Company,
Inc., a subsidiary of Contractor's Recycled Material, had an excavator that was equipped with a
grapple. Hickory Point Township authorized Entler Excavating to provide an excavator and
grapple to load limbs into the burn pile. Between March 2 and May 5, 2007, Entler
Excavating's equipment and operator worked 330 hours loading limbs into the burn pile at a
cost of$49,500. This cost is eligible for FEMA reimbursement.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this
resolution.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Entler Excavating Company, a subsidiary
of Contractors Recycled Material
Hickory Point Township
