E., City Engineer��� <br /> SUBJECT: Emergency Sewer Repair at Indiana Drive and 21St Street <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution approving the I� <br /> expenditure of$10,883.11 for the emergency repair of a collapsed sewer main near the I, <br /> intersection of Indiana Drive and 21St Street, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign said I <br /> resolution, and the City Clerk to attest. ', <br /> BACKGROUND: 'I <br /> On Friday June 8, 2007, City Engineering was notified that a house at the corner of 21 St Street <br /> and Indiana Drive was having a sewer backup and that other homes on 21St Street were also <br /> experiencing sanitary sewer problems. City crews responded and worked with a crew from <br /> Tele Scan Inc. to locate sewer lines in the area. It was discovered that the homes drained to a <br /> heretofore unknown sanitary sewer line in 215t Street. On Wednesday, June 13, all attempts to <br /> open the line had failed and it was determined that the sewer needed to be excavated in order to <br /> allow City crews access to clean the line. <br /> n r ed with Barr Robison ewer and Excavatin to excavate the line. The Cit <br /> The City co t act & S g y <br /> cleaning equipment became stuck and it was necessary to excavate the line at another location <br /> in order to free up the City equipment. At this point the City was able to fully clean the sewer <br /> and relieve the homes experiencing sewer backups. <br /> The contractor's work commenced on June 14, and was completed on June 15, 2007. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this <br />' resolution. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> I� <br />
