E., City Engineer�� SUBJECT: Emergency Sewer Repair at Indiana Drive and 21St Street SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution approving the I� expenditure of$10,883.11 for the emergency repair of a collapsed sewer main near the I, intersection of Indiana Drive and 21St Street, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign said I resolution, and the City Clerk to attest. ', BACKGROUND: 'I On Friday June 8, 2007, City Engineering was notified that a house at the corner of 21 St Street and Indiana Drive was having a sewer backup and that other homes on 21St Street were also experiencing sanitary sewer problems. City crews responded and worked with a crew from Tele Scan Inc. to locate sewer lines in the area. It was discovered that the homes drained to a heretofore unknown sanitary sewer line in 215t Street. On Wednesday, June 13, all attempts to open the line had failed and it was determined that the sewer needed to be excavated in order to allow City crews access to clean the line. n r ed with Barr Robison ewer and Excavatin to excavate the line. The Cit The City co t act & S g y cleaning equipment became stuck and it was necessary to excavate the line at another location in order to free up the City equipment. At this point the City was able to fully clean the sewer and relieve the homes experiencing sewer backups. The contractor's work commenced on June 14, and was completed on June 15, 2007.
