Pe y, Purchasing Supervisor i, <br /> SUBJECT: Rescind Bids for Tree Removals—Ice Storm Damage <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommending rescinding the contract of AII-A- <br /> Round Tree Service for cause. Staff also requests awarding contract to Absolute Tree Service to , <br /> remove 56 trees located at various addresses on Snow Route 4 (the area between Eldorado Street <br /> on the north, Lake Shore Drive on the south, Nelson Boulevard on the east, and Martin Luther <br /> King Jr. Dr., on the west. <br /> BACKGROUND: On April 16, 2007, City Council approved awarding a contract to AII-A- I <br /> Round Tree Service to remove trees because of the November 2006 ice storm. The trees are <br /> located on the City right-of-ways in Snow Route 4. . �, <br /> AII-A-Round Tree Service has removed three trees on the contract. AII-A-Round removed two I <br /> (2) 18" silver maples on S. 16th, south of Sedgwick west boulevard, and also one (1) 24" silver �, <br /> maple on S. 16�' north of Johns east boulevard. Mr. Jeff Helm, is the owner of AII-A-Round <br /> Tree Service. Mr. Helm has been hospitalized and has contacted the City, that he wishes to <br /> forfeit his contract due to illness. ' <br /> The second low bidder is Absolute Tree Service. Staff has met with Mr. Brad Ball, owner of <br /> Absolute Tree Service, and he has agreed to hold his price to remove the remaining 56 trees on , <br /> the bid. ' <br /> Mr. Ball has provided the City with proof of insurance and named the City of Decatur as ', <br /> additional insured for this project. � <br /> A condition of the bid was that the successful vendor must dispose of all landscape debris from I, <br /> this project in a legal and proper manner, or in a licensed landscape waste facility. ' <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None ' <br />
