E., City Enginee�A� w� SUBJECT: Water Service Agreement for 2305 South Shores Drive SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing a Water Service Agreement between the City of Decatur and the property owner of 2305 South Shores Drive. BACKGROUND: In 1971 the City extended a 12 inch water main on South Shores Drive to provide water service to the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. As is typical with these extensions, residents periodically request City water to service properties located outside the City limits. To service properties outside City limits, a Water Service Agreement must be entered into between the City and the property owner(s). The Water Service Agreement recommended herein is for properties which do not directly front onto a City water main. Over the years, City staff has been approached on numerous occasions by residents who own property close to City water but are not directly adjacent to a main. This agreement provides these residents with the opportunity to extend a water service to their properties while at the same time safeguarding the integrity of the City's water system and its record keeping ability. POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this resolution and agreement. INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None.
