I ons, Neighborhood Redevelopment Manager � SUBJECT: IDPH "Get the Lead Out"Program Amendment RECOMMENDATION: The City of Decatur was invited to participate in a grant with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Macon County Health Department (MCHD) in 2005. The grant is used to reduce lead-based paint hazards in housing units located in the city of Decatur. The period of this grant is July 1, 2005 through Apri130, 2008. Due to staff performance, the Illinois Department of Public Health has awarded an additional $90,671.00 to the existing grant. Staff recommends approval of the attached resolution. BACKGROUND: Funding was initially received in 2001 for the program. To date, forty-two (42) houses have received lead-based paint hazard reduction under the grant. The City of � Decatur's funding level for the initial agreement period was not exceed $239,041, with a 10% match required from the city. The amendment to the agreement, in the amount of $90,671, would provide a total allocation of $329,712. The match would be paid from the City of Decatur's annual HUD entitlement, a portion of which is set aside for residential rehabilitation. POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: Staff is not aware of objections. INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Comments and information were secured through past public meetings and input from a variety of community organizations.
