'' , , <br /> COUNCIL COMMUNICATION FORM <br /> PURCHASING& INTERNAL SERVICES MEMORANDUM <br /> #07-17 <br /> April 9, 2007 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council <br /> FROM: Steve Garm City Manager <br /> Ron Neufel inancial Management Director <br /> Deborah M. erry, Purchasing Superviso� <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for Tree Removals—Ice Storm Damage <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to AII-A-Round <br /> Tree Service to remove 59 trees located at various addresses in Snow Route 4 (the area between <br /> Eldorado Street on the north, Lake Shore Drive on the south, Nelson Boulevard on the east, and <br /> Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive on the west). <br /> BACKGROUND: These trees are being removed because of the damage caused from the <br /> November 2006 ice storm. The trees are all located on the City right-of-way in Snow Route 4. <br /> A condition of the bid was that the successful vendor must dispose of all landscape debris from <br /> this project in a legal and proper manner or in a landscape waste facility. <br /> The low bidder has also provided the City with proof of insurance and named the City of Decatur <br /> as additional insured for this project. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Forestry Division requested the removals and wrote the <br /> specifications. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Rick Marley, Director of Engineering and Infrastructure, 424-2747. <br /> ' Randy Callison, City Forester, 875-4820. Rick will be at the council meeting to answer any <br /> questions City Council has about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $18,715.00 from the General Fund, with FEMA reimbursement of 75%. <br />
