• , • i <br /> Mass Transit Memorandum <br /> No. 040607-2 <br /> April 6, 2007 I�, <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council Members ', <br /> FROM: Steve G , City Manager I�! <br /> Paul Mc cy, Mass Transit Administrato��,�; <br /> SUBJECT: FTA Operating Assistance Grant for FFY-2007 <br /> SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council approve a Resolution to authorize <br /> RECOMMENDATION: the filing of an application for federal operating assistance for <br /> FFY-2007 in the total amount of$1,350,371. <br /> BACKGROUND: Every year the Federal Transit Administration(FTA) sets aside <br /> grant funds for each metropolitan transit system. For FFY-2007 <br /> the amount available to Decatur is $1,350,371. Staff recommends <br /> that a grant application be submitted to FTA requesting that the <br /> available funding be awarded to help offset the operating deficit of <br /> the Transit System. <br /> POTENTIAL A public hearing was held to discuss this grant application. No <br /> OBJECTION: negative comments were received. There are no known or <br /> expected objections to this grant application. <br /> INPUT FROM Richard Foiles, General Manager, DPTS <br /> OTHER SOURCES: <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator <br /> BUDGET/TIME The requested FTA grant funds require a 50/50 match. This local <br /> IMPLICATIONS: match would be made up of farebox revenues and state operating <br /> funds already awarded to Decatur. <br />
