 ♦ •
. r r
Mapping Initiative Summary
On behalf of the Department of Geology & Geography, our Geography 'i
Interns, and my colieagues, we are pleased to be a part of the ongoing GIS
implementation and Hydrants Mapping initiative with the City of Decatur. The
students are gaining invaluable field and laboratory experience and have enjoyed the
time as interns for your organization. We have successfully completed 61% of the
current GPS mapping endeavor and wish to proceed with other pending utilities. In
the interest of the students, faculty, and other university professionals involved in I
these activities, and to cover our operational, training, management, and equipment il
expenses, we do not at this time feel the need to modify the existing per-feature I
mapping rate of $6.25. Therefore, utilities estimates are based upon the anticipated
number of features (as per the City of Decatur CAD datasets) and the fixed rate
multiplier. Eastern Illinois University will proceed with a formal legal agreement
upon acceptance of this bid. Should you have any further questions, please do not
hesitate to contact us.
VALVE & SANITARY MAPPING PROPOSAL
City of Decatur:
Incorporated Area: N 42.7 sq mi land / 4.3 sq mi water
Q-Sections: N 230 quarter sections
Streets: N 787 mi (within corporate boundary)
Valves: N 9,697 total (as per City of Decatur GIS / CAD archives)
Estimated Valves Acquisition Time
Equipment: Two (2) City of Decatur, Leica GX1250 GPS units with Differential
Correction via CDMA cellular modem, AX1202 antennae and a Leica
SR530 Base Station: Kara Spider Network, Decatur CORS.
Estimated Time = 80 GPS days (required total days in field, less processing and
QA/QC) at an average collection rate of 120 features per day.
9,697 valves @ $6.25/ feature
Total $60,606.25
Estimated Sanitary Acquisition Time
Equipment: Two (2) Eastern Illinois University, Leica GX1250 GPS units with
Differential Correction via CDMA cellular modem, AX1202 antennae
and a Leica SR530 Base Station: Kara Spider Network, Decatur CORS.
Estimated Time = 60 GPS days (required total days in field, less processing and
QA/QC) at an average collection rate of 120 features per day.
8,361 sanitary manholes @ $6.25/ m.h.
Total $52,256.25
