Travis Stan y, Civil Engineer I�l �/v- <br /> SUBJECT: CDBG Sidewalk Ramp Project, City Project 06-22 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution which <br /> authorizes awarding the contract for the CDBG Sidewalk Replacement Project, City Project 06- <br /> 22, to WAS CON Co., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$57,739.00, and that <br /> the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The purpose of this proj ect is to install new sidewalk ramps at intersections without ramps and <br /> replace deteriorated sidewalk ramps in the various locations around the City. The proposed work <br /> will be in the City's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) eligible neighborhoods. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project <br /> was advertised October 26, and November 2, 2006, and bids were opened on November 13, <br /> 2006. The results for the letting are as follows: <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over (-Under) <br /> Engineer's Estimate $80,602.75 ---- <br /> WAS CON Co. $57,739.00 ( -28.37 %) <br /> Christy-Foltz, Inc. $101,842.00 26.35 % <br /> WAS CON Co. provided the low bid for the proposed work. WAS CON Co. has successfully <br /> completed several sidewalk projects for the City. Staff recommends that the City Council award <br /> a contract with WAS CON Co. to perform the CDBG Sidewalk Ramp Project. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution <br /> and bid award. <br />
