s <br /> , I � <br /> Mass Transit Memorandum <br /> No. 071106-1 <br /> July 11, 2006 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Steve Garman, City Manager <br /> Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator�-ti� <br /> ( <br /> SUBJECT: Grant Agreement for IDOT Mass Transit Operating Assistance <br /> SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council adopt a Resolution to execute an <br /> RECOMI��NDATION: agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation for mass <br /> transit operating assistance in the m�imum amount of$2,858,232 <br /> for State FY-2007. <br /> BACKGROIJND: Each year the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) <br /> provides grant assistance to offset part of the costs of operating the <br /> Decatur Public Transit System. On May 1 l, 2006, staff submitted <br /> an application to IDOT requesting a grant of$2,858,232 for <br />� FY-2007. That amount is estimated to be 55%of the Transit <br /> System's actual eligible operating expenses far the State fiscal year. i <br /> The attached agreement would award Decatur an operating <br /> assistance grant not to exceed $2,858,232. <br /> POT'ENTIAL No known objection to this grant agreement. <br /> OBJECTION: <br /> INPUT FROM Division of Public and Intermodal Transportation, <br /> OTHER SOURCES: Illinois Department of Transportation <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator <br /> BUDGET/TIlV� This grant will reimburse Decatur for 55% of its actual eligible <br /> IlVIPLICATIONS: transit operating expenses. The remaining 45%will be paid <br /> through an operating grant from the Federal Transit Administration, <br /> fazes and other revenues generated by the Transit System, and local <br /> funds. The term of this grant agreement is State Fiscal Year 2007, <br /> July l, 2006 through June 30, 2007. <br />
