The resolution authorizes the Mayor to increase '',
the existing $135,000.00 agreement amount by$8,000.00 for a total fee not to exceed '
$143,000.00, and the City Clerk to attest. '
BACKGROUND:
On March 6, 2006, the City Council authorized a $135,000.00 agreement with BWC for the
preparation of final design plans and project specifications for proposed West Main Street
improvements. The design currently incorporates an asphalt pavement. As the design work
progressed, City staff and the engineer also began to look closely at the possibility of installing a
brick pavement as part of the reconstruction work. Thorough reviews of the pavement and
discussions with brick pavement manufacturers have determined that incorporating a brick
pavement into the design is a real possibility.
Staff is recommending that additional funding be provided to incorporate a brick pavement
alternate into the West Main Street Improvements project plans. The intention is to receive bids
for an asphalt pavement option and a brick pavement option.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Economic and Urban Development Department
Blank, Wesselink, Cook and Associates, Inc.
