Ne ell, P.E., City Engineery�� SUBJECT: Annual Brick Street Restoration, City Project 06-15 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the contract for Annual Brick Street Restoration, City Project 06-15, to Otto Baum Company, Inc., as the lowest,responsible bidder in the amount of$267,160.35, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest: I� BACKGROUND: The City has numerous brick streets in varying condition levels. Over the past three years, the City began allocating funding for the improvement of brick streets with the ultimate goal of restoring many of them to a more serviceable condition. Brick street restoration work generally entails the removal of non-brick patches, the removal of settled brick areas, and the replacement of failed curb and gutter sections. The streets included in ', this year's project are: • Haworth Street from Tuttle Street to William Street • Forest Avenue from Haworth Street to Oakland Avenue • Union Street from Macon Street to Wood Street • Prairie Avenue from Home Avenue to Haworth Street The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project was advertised May 1 l, 2006, and bids were opened on May 26, 2006. The results for the letting are as follows: Compared to Engineer's Est.
