ECONOMIC AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM <br /> No. 06-112 <br /> May 29, 2006 <br /> TO: Mayor Paul Osborne and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Steve G City Manager <br /> Dane Brag , ssistant City Manager� <br /> � <br /> SUBJECT: Illinois Main Street Program Resolution <br /> The attached resolution is presented in support of the Downtown Decatur Council's <br /> application to the State of Illinois to become an Illinois Main Street organization. The <br /> Downtown Decatur Council is seeking this designation in order to provide technical <br /> support and assistance to Downtown businesses, investors and developers. <br /> The Main Street Program has been in existence since 1993. A packet is also included <br /> with general information about the program. Currently, comparable cities such as <br /> Springfield, Bloomington and Rockford participate in the program. T'he program has <br /> shown a strong track record for helping communities revitalize their downtowns, with <br /> over $500 million in public/private investments in Main Street downtovms since the <br /> program's inception. A representative from DDC will be in attendance at the Council <br /> meeting to answer any questions Council members may have. <br /> Any questions may be directed to Dane Bragg at 424-2727 ar dbra��ndecaturnet.org, or <br /> Daylyn Wells, Executive Director, at 423-3475 or director��c�downtowndecatur.coin. <br />
