.
COUNCIL COMMUNICATION FORM
Engineering & Infrastructure Memorandum
NO. 2006-24
April 10, 2006
TO: Honorable Ma or Osborne and City Council
FROM: Steve Garm . City Manager
Steve Swanso , P. E., Director of Engineering & Infrastructur
Matthew C. Newell, P. E., City Engineer
SUBJECT: Water Service Agreement for 3383 Turpin Road
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing a
Water Service Agreement between the City of Decatur and the property owners of 3383
Turpin Road.
BACKGROUND:
In 1957, the City extended a 12 inch water main along a portion of Turpin Road to provide
water to the Pittsburg Plate Glass Company. As is typical with water main extensions that are
installed beyond City limits, nearby residents periodically request permission to have access
to City water. To service properties not currently within the City limits, a Water Service
Agreement must be entered into between the City and the property owner(s).
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this
resolution and agreement.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None
STAFF REFERENCE: Steve Swanson, Director of Engineering &
Infrastructure, at 424-2747
Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747
The Director of Engineering and Infrastructure, Steve Swanson, and City Engineer, Matt
Newell, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the
Council on this item.
