The application would request <br /> $1,211,968 in operating assistance and$122,000 in capital <br /> assistance. <br /> BACKGROITND: Every year the Federai Transit Administration (FTA) sets aside <br /> grant funds fQr each metropolitan transit system. For FFY-2006 <br /> the amount available to Decatur is $1,333,968. Staff recommends <br /> that a grant application be submitted to FTA requesting that the <br /> available funding be divided as follows: $1,211,968 of this amount <br /> to be used to help offset the operating deficit of the Transit System; <br /> $110,000 to purchase two replacement wheelchair vans; and <br /> $12,000 to purchase bus stop shelters and benches. <br /> POTENTIAL A public hearing was held to discuss this grant application. No <br /> OBJECTION: negative comments were received. There are no known or <br /> • expected objections t4 this grant ap�lication. <br /> INPUT FROM Richard Foiles, General Manager, DPTS <br /> OTHER SOURCES: James Gillum, Maintenance Superintendent, DPTS <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator <br /> BUDGET/TIME The requested FTA grant funds require a local match, as follows: <br /> IlVIPLICATIONS: a)The proposed FTA operating funds would be matched (50/50) <br /> by state operating#�unds already awarded to Decatur. <br /> b)The proposed $110,000 of FTA capital funds to purchase two <br /> vans would require no local match. <br /> c) The proposed$12,000 to purchase bus stop shelters and benches <br /> would be matched(80/20) by$3,000 of City capital funds. <br />
