• I
COUNCIL COMMUNICATION FORM ,
Engineering& Infrastructure Memorandum I
NO. 2006- 18 j
March 13, 2006
TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council
FROM: Steve Garm ity Manager
Stephen S n, P. E., Director of Engineering & Infrastructur
Matthew C. Newell, P. E., City Engineer
SUBJECT: Twickingham Drive Storm Drainage Improvements Cost Increase
City Project OS-12
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution approving an
increase to the contract amount with McIntire and Company Contractors, for Twickingham
Drive Storm Drainage Improvements, City Project OS-12. The resolution authorizes the Mayor
to increase the existing $90,777.00 contract amount by$16,987.00 for a maximum of
$107,764.00 for the work that was necessary to complete the project, and the City Clerk to attest.
BACKGROUND:
On August 29, 2005, the City Council authorized a $90,777.00 contract with Mclntire and
Company Contractors, to improve storm drainage in the Twickingham Drive neighborhood. The
work on this project was substantially completed in November 2005. The extra earthwork
involved in filling the deep ditches in the area along with some added ditching work to better
complete the project are the main causes of the increased cost. The additional quantities required
to complete the project were not antieipated, were consistent with the project, and in the best
interest of the City.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None
