are about 10 percent less as a percentage of our budget. In fiscal year 2000 reserves were 41.7 '
percent of the budget and in fiscal year 2005 they are 31.1 percent of the budget.
We are proposing that we cap the rate at $1.27, the same rate as this year. This means
that barring a property reassessment, taxpayers will not pay one cent more to the city next year
than they did this year. The good thing about this plan is that if we leave the rate at $1.27 the
following year we will be able to lower the property tax the year after, something I think that we
all want to see.
POTENTIAL OBJECTORS: Group known as Macon County Shared Vision
STAFF REFERENCE: City Manager Steve Garman at 424-2801 or Ron Neufeld at
424-2702.
