SECTION II. DEFINITIONS
<br /> For the purpose of this Ordinance, certain terms and words are herewith defined as listed
<br /> herein.
<br /> Terms used in this Ordinance shall have their customary meanings except that terms of
<br /> art in the legal, engineering, land surveying, and planning professions shall be used in the
<br /> professional sense.
<br /> Words used in the present tense include the future; words in the singular number include
<br /> the plural,and words in the plural number include the singular; the word "building"
<br /> includes the word "structure"; the word"shall" is mandatory and not permissive.
<br /> Masculine pronouns refer equally to persons of either gender unless the context clearly
<br /> indicates otherwise.
<br /> ACCESS DRIVE: Any driveway that provides for the movement of vehicles to or from
<br /> the public roadway system.
<br /> ACCESSORY BUILDING, STRUCTURE OR USE: A building or use which(a)Is
<br /> subordinate to,and serves a principal building or principal use,and is located on the
<br /> same lot as said principal building or use; and(b) Is subordinate in height, extent, and �
<br /> purpose to the principal building or principal use served; (c) The aggregate gross
<br /> floor area of all accessory structures does not exceed the ground floor area of the
<br /> main building, except that a minimum gross area of 750 square feet for such
<br /> accessory building or aggregate areas of two or more buildings shall be permitted;
<br /> and(d)Is naturally and normally incidental to that of the dominant use of the main

<br /> ACT: When referring to matters of floodplain management,the Environmental
<br /> Protection Act of the State of Illinois.
<br /> ADULT ENTERTAINMENT ACTIVITY: An establishment having as a substantial or
<br /> significant portion of its business the sale,rental, display, exhibition, or viewing of
<br /> books,magazines, films,photographs, sexual paraphernalia or other materials
<br /> distinguished by or characterized by an emphasis on matter depicting,describing or
<br /> relating to sexual conduct or specified anatomical areas as defined herein.
<br /> ADULT ENTERTAINMENT CABARET: A nightclub, theater, or other establishment
<br /> that features live performances by topless and/or bottomless dancers, go-go dancers,
<br /> exotic dancers, strippers or similar entertainers where such performances are
<br /> distinguished by or characterized by an emphasis on sexual conduct of specified
<br /> anatomical areas as defined herein.
<br /> ADULT ENTERTAINMENT USE: Sex-related or oriented establishments providing
<br /> adult services,products or entertainment including but not limited to adult
<br /> entertainment activity, adult entertainment cabaret, model studios,adult picture
<br /> arcades or adult motion picture theaters, and similar establishments.
<br /> ADULT MOTION PICTURE THEATER: An establishment, other than an adult picture
<br /> arcade, in an enclosed building wherein slides or movies are presented for
<br /> observation by patrons for a substantial or significant portion of its presentations
