Miller, AICP, Senior Planner k��,, <br /> Suzan Stickle, Senior Planner SS <br /> SUBJECT: Request to amend R-1 Special Use Permit—Adult Day Care Center- 5310 East William <br /> Street Road <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the petition. <br /> The amendment to the Special Use Permit is consistent with the intent of the original SUP. The <br /> activities occurring at this location operate in harmony with the surrounding neighborhood. <br /> The City Plan Commission voted 10-0 to recommend approval of this petition at the August 4, 2005 <br /> hearing; the minutes of the meeting are attached. <br /> BACKGROUND: The petitioner has requested an amendment to the approved Special Use Permit to <br /> allow for the continuation of the adult day care activities as well as the once-weekly night activities <br /> that they provide to their developmentally disabled clients as well as clients from other group homes. <br /> This location operates during the day Monday through Friday and has once-weekly night activities that <br /> typically end at 9:00 P.M. <br /> The Decatur City Council approved the Special Use Permit in May 1993 to allow for the operation of a I', <br /> privately owned community building. The petitioner is currently utilizing the facility for an adult day '' <br /> care and workshop for the developmentally disabled. This location also hosts once weekly night <br /> activities. There are no known complaints about this facility from the general public. �I <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There were no objectors to the petition at the Plan Commission ', <br /> meeting.
