, L

. .
EXCERPTS OF THE
MINUTES OF THE MEETING
OF THE
TRAFFIC AND PARKING COMMISSION
, Tuesday, July 12, 2005, 4:00 P.M.
Item #1 -#7 Request for stop signs at the intersections of Marietta Street and
Dunham Street, Poole Street and Division Street, College Street and
Center Street, William Street and Witt Street, William Street and
Calhoun Street, William Street and 17th Street, and Charles Street
and Locust Street
', Newell explained the next seven items are a continuation of residential intersections
which were brou ht to the Traffic and Parkin Commission from an in-depth review City
9 9
staff is performing. Newell explained these locations are from the Illinois Department of
Transportation (IDOT) accident report which has now been put on a spread sheet.
There are 3 years of information compiled on this spreadsheet. Several of these
intersections are low volume, however; on-street parking and sight distance in general
are factors in the occurrence of accidents.
In April 2005, the Traffic and Parking Commission acted to install stop signs at 5
intersections which were passed with one motion and vote. It was decided to follow the
same procedure with these 7 intersections.
Staff recommends stop signs be installed at the subject intersections.
It was moved and seconded (Harris / Zaiz) to follow staff recommendation for items # 1
through # 7. Motion carried unanimously.
