EXCERPTS OF THE <br /> MINUTES OF THE MEETING <br /> OF THE <br /> TRAFFIC AND PARKING COMMISSION <br /> Tuesday, April 12, 2005, 4:00 P.M. <br /> Item # 1 Request for an all-way stop at the intersection of Sunset Avenue and <br /> Dennis Avenue <br /> Don Wennecker opened the meeting by asking Matt Newell to summarize this item for <br /> the members of the Traffic & Parking Commission. Newell stated a request for an all- <br /> way stop was petitioned before the Commission in August 2003. The decision at that <br /> time was to install a two-way stop at the intersection rather than the requested all-way <br /> stop. Since the installation of the stop signs there have been no recorded accidents. <br /> There also has not been a drastic change in speeds through the neighborhood. It is <br /> staff's recommendation to not install the all-way stop. Wennecker asked Tim Foster, the <br /> citizen who filed the petition, if he would like to address the Commission. Foster said the , <br /> visibility at the intersection, the speed at which vehicles travel Sunset, and the '� <br /> intersection being a pick up and drop off point for two school buses were the factors for <br /> the petition. He also advised the Commission that a number of young families were i <br /> moving into the neighborhood which will increase the number of children in the area and � <br /> asked if police setting up radar or patrolling the area would reduce traffic speeds. �! <br /> Wennecker deferred to Todd Walker for his opinion. Walker stated it was difficult to set �� <br /> up radar enforcement in residential areas and that he was not opposed to the installation � <br /> of the all-way stop. Ed Harris stated he used to live in the area and agreed with the <br /> need for the all-way stop. <br /> It was moved and seconded (Harris / Zaiz) that an all-way stop be implemented at the <br /> intersection of Sunset Avenue and Dennis Avenue. Motion carried unanimously. <br />
