(d) In cases where a probationary firefighter needs to travel to three station <br /> assignments in his first year, no such firefighter shall be displaced more than four (4) months <br /> from the station for which he or she bid. <br /> (e) A newly promoted Lieutenant may be required to travel to two station assignments <br /> in his first six months. No Lieutenant shall be displaced more than three (3) months from the <br /> station for which he or she bid. <br /> (fl No employee who has received discipline (other than an oral reprimand) in any <br /> calendar year will be eligible to bid for the next succeeding ca�endar year. <br /> Section 3. The required special certifications/skills which shall be staffed for each <br /> station are set forth in Exhibit G. <br /> Section 4. Employees' station bids shall be maintained except that the Chief may move <br /> an employee from his bid temporarily in the following circumstances: <br /> (a) For a single duty shift in order to maintain a minimum of at least one EMT-I at <br /> outstations and at least three at Station 1 each day. In such event, the employee moved shall <br /> be the least senior available EMT-I unless a more senior EMT-I employee volunteers. If there <br /> are insufficient EMT-I's on duty to maintain a minimum as set out in Exhibit G, then the shortage <br /> shall be filled by hiring back from an established EMT-I overtime list. <br /> (b) An employee may by time-in-grade seniority volunteer to move out of his/her bid <br /> station to fill a vacancy due to retirement, resignation, long term illness, or promotion. This will <br /> be allowed when a station falls below its minimum manpower needed to operate. If there are no <br /> volunteers, then the least senior available employee may be required to move. <br /> (c) A Captain may be required to fill a vacancy at Station #1 30 days after notification of <br /> a long-term illness (more than 30 days) of the Station #1 Captain. The affected Battalion Chief <br /> shall solicit a volunteer to fill the vacancy first, and if there are no volunteers, then the Chief <br /> shall move a Captain to fill the vacancy. <br /> (d) A Captain may be transferred to fill the vacancy of Battalion Chief in the event of a <br /> long-term illness (more than 30 days). This action would take place after Station #1 Captain <br /> had completed a 30-day cycle of said position. The affected Battalion Chief shall solicit <br /> volunteers to fill the vacancy. If there are no volunteers and the position needs to be filled <br /> because the Fire Station #1 Captain is not available, then the Fire Chief shall appoint a captain <br /> to fill the vacancy. After the transferred Captain has served 30 days, he would be reassigned to <br /> his bid station. <br />� (e) Temporary transfers to balance manpower needs between the shifts shall be <br /> allowed, however the City must keep a current hiring list and current promotional registers. Shift <br /> transfers shall be by volunteers first, and if no volunteers then the least senior in grade <br /> employee will be moved. <br /> Section 5. Vacancies in bid positions occurring during the calendar year resulting from <br />' resignation, retirement, promotion, light duty assignment in excess of 12 months, etc., or the <br /> creation of a new position shall be filled by the Battalion Chief of the affected shift to ask by <br /> time-in-grade seniority if anyone would like to move from their bid station and fill the vacated <br />' spot.
