Stewart,Transportation Planner� <br /> SUBJECT: Annexation of territory located at 4227 East Mound Road <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff is of the opinion that the proposed annexation would produce <br /> a logical extension of the corporate limits; staff recommends approval of the petition as presented. <br /> BACKGROUND: A valid petition seeking annexation of the subject premises has been filed with the City <br /> Clerk's Office. Containing approximately 287 acres, the property currently is vacant. The site will be <br /> developed as The Farm Progress Show. Annexation is requested for connection to City water. The <br /> property to the north and east is in the County; property to the south and west is zoned R-1 Single Family <br /> Residence District; when annexed the area will come into the city as R-1 Single Family Residence <br /> District. The property will be rezoned to M-1 with a Conditional Use Permit. The following information <br /> is relevant to the area in question: <br /> 1. The parcel is currently vacant. <br /> 2. City water is available along Brush College Road. <br /> 3. Sanitary sewer is available along Brush College Road. <br /> 4. The average fire response time from the Decatur Fire Departrnent is eight(8)minutes. <br /> 5. Brush College Road is concrete and Rea's Bridge Road is asphalted. Both roads are <br /> maintained by the County. Mound Road extended will also be maintained by the County. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The annexation plat has been reviewed and approved by Municipal <br /> Services, Water Distribution, Engineering and Infrastructure, Fire, the Macon County Health Department <br /> and the Decatur Sanitary District. <br /> STAFF REFERENCES: If Council members have questions they may contact Joselyn Stewart at 424- <br /> 2782,jaste��art(�decanu7iet.org. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: The City's responsibility for water main extension will be limited to <br /> $250,000. <br />
