'.``s .�r <br /> COUNCIL COMMUNICATION FORM <br /> Engineering & Infrastructure Memorandum <br /> NO. 2005-74 <br /> November 29, 2005 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council <br /> FROM: Steve Garm City Manager <br /> Stephen S on, P.E.,Director of Engineering & Infrastructure <br /> Matthew C ewell, P.E., City Engineer��"""` <br /> SUBJECT: Right of Way Donation on the Southwest Corner of U.S. Route 51 and <br /> Mound Road , <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: I <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing the <br /> Mayor to sign the attached documents to transfer property from the Mound Center site from the <br /> City of Decatur to the State of Illinois for U.S. Route 51 right of way and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> The total property transfer encompasses approximately 0.096 acres. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Development of the Mound Center site required the improvement of the U.S. Route 51 / Mound <br /> Road intersection. To improve the intersection properly, a 7.7 foot wide strip of Mound Center <br /> property along the eastern edge of the site needs to be dedicated to the State of Illinois as right of <br /> way. To facilitate this transfer of property to right of way, the Illinois Department of <br /> Transportation has presented the City with the following documents: Donation of Right of Way, <br /> Affidavit of Title, and Receipt for ponation. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: State of Illinois <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> The City Engineer, Matt Newell, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any <br /> questions of the Council on this item. <br />
