Newell, P.E., City Enginee SUBJECT: 2005 Water Main Extension Project, City Project OS-Ol SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the contract for 2005 Water Main Extension Project, City Project OS-01, to Bodine Services of Decatur, Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$316,537.00, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. BACKGROUND: The proposed 2005 Water Main Extension Project extends water mains on Taylor Road, from Heritage to County Highway 30 on the south side of town, and on Neeley Avenue from Stevenson Elementary School to the north City limits on the north side of town. The extensions are largely as a result of numerous requests for water service in those areas and the high numbers of potential customers in the various extension areas. All customer connections outside of the City limits are double the normal water rate and require the customer to annex to the City if their property becomes contiguous to the corporate boundary in the future. The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staf£ The project was advertised September 2, 2005, and bids were opened on September 20, 2005. The results for the letting are as follows: Compared to Engineer's Est.
