Mass Transit Memorandum <br /> No. 082605-1 <br /> August 26,2005 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Steve Garman, City Manager '��m <br /> Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator����t' <br /> SUBJECT: Grant Agreement for IDOT Mass Transit Operating Assistance <br /> SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council adopt a Resolution to execute an <br /> RECONIlVIENDATION: agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation for mass <br /> transit operating assistance in the maximum amount of$2,590,230 <br /> for State FY-2006. <br /> BACKGROUND: Each year the Illinois Department of Transportation(IDOT) <br /> provides grant assistance to offset part of the cost of operating the <br /> Decatur Public Transit System. IDOT will reimburse the City for <br /> up to 55%of the actual eligible transit operating expenses for the <br /> state fiscal year. On May 9, 2005, an application was submitted to <br /> IDOT requesting a grant of$2,590,230 for FY-2006. The attached <br /> agreement would award Decatur an operating assistance grant not <br /> to exceed 55%of the actual eligible operating expenses of the <br /> Transit System. <br /> POTENTIAL No known objection to this grant agreement. <br /> OBJECTION: <br /> INPUT FROM Division of Public Transportation, <br /> OTHER SOURCES: Illinois Department of Transportation <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy,Mass Transit Administrator <br /> BUDGET/TIME This grant will reimburse Decatur for 55% of its actual eligible <br /> IMPLICATIONS: transit operating expenses. The remaining 45%will be paid <br /> through an operating grant from the Federal Transit Administration, <br /> fares and other revenues generated by the Transit System, and local <br /> funds. The term of this grant agreement is State Fiscal Year 2006. <br />
