Newell, P.E., City Engineer�� SUBJECT: Upper Deck Lighting Parking Garage C, City Project OS-OS I MMENDATION: I SUMMARY RECO , It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the II contract for Upper Deck Lighting Parking Garage C, City Project OS-OS, to Bodine Electric of I Decatur, as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$30,405.42, and that the Mayor be ', authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. , BACKGROUND: , Parking Garage C (located on the northeast corner of Wood / Franklin) was constructed in the II mid to late 1960's. In late 2005, the City was notified that one of the luminaries on top of the 40 I foot upper deck light poles was hanging. Inspection of the luminaire brackets uncovered severe corrosion. A complete inspection of the garage's lights located one other bracket that needed to i be removed. The condition of the upper deck lighting towers has been a growing concern over the years. It was determined during the past budgeting process to allocate funding for replacement of the 40 year old lighting structures and luminaries. The proposed project will remove and replace the lighting structures on the upper deck of the parking garage. The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project I! was advertised August 9, 2005, and bids were opened on August 26, 2005. The results for the , letting are as follows: ' Compared to Engineer's Est. Bidder Bid Price Over(-Under) Engineer's Estimate $ 49,900.00 ---- Bodine Electric of Decatur $ 30,405.42 (- 39.07 %) D. Lewis Electric, Inc. $ 32,323.00 (- 35.22 %) Egizii Electric, Inc. $ 32,908.07 (- 34.05 %) Bodine Electric of Decatur provided the low bid for the proposed work. Staff recommends that the City Council approve a contract with Bodine Electric of Decatur, to perform the Upper Deck Lighting Parking Garage C project.
