Dedication of Right Of Way For Public Road Purposes, and;
2. Agreement for Temporary Use of Land with the County of DeWitt, State of
Illinois.
BACKGROUND:
Dewitt County is currently planning to improve County Highway 5 by widening the
shoulders, reducing the steepness of the ditch and back slopes, providing adequate ditch
depth and upgrading the surface to bituminous concrete. Additional right-of-way will be
required as a result of these improvements.
The proposed road improvements affect land owned by the City of Decatur for the
DeWitt County Emergency Well Field. The proposed project requires a strip of land
approximately 6 feet wide by one quarter mile long. DeWitt County is offering $1,860 in
compensation for the 0.186 acres of new right-of-way based on the rate of$10,000 per
acre. This well field site is fannland purchased in 1988 for$3,150.00 per acre.
In addition to the purchase of the right-of-way, DeWitt County requires a Temporary Use
Agreement to modify an existing driveway approach for the site of Well No. 10.
In summary, DeWitt County is requesting two agreements, one for the purchase of
additional right-of-way and the other for a temporary easement.
